Since the issue of ICT and development has become a country priority in Azerbaijan, “DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” mobilizes efforts to raise awareness about the importance of taking advantage of new technologies as a tool for economic, political, and social development.
While access to ICTs can educate, entertain and enrich our lives, ICTs, together with other tools, can also play a part in helping to achieve the much broader goals of The Millennium Declaration Goals (MDGs). “Digital Development” will be working to help with creation of a digital world where the most vulnerable and needy classes can get a benefit from it.
“DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” acknowledges that ICTs may act as a tool for development and help change people’s lives in some way. It is essential to involve the broad society members to participate in the debate on how ICT may change people’s lives and assist in the fight against poverty.
“DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” also stands for the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for civil society development. This is a dynamic new field where success is dependent upon skill development and practical experience. Civil society and human rights activists should be able to use ICTs (mainly the Internet) to promote their work. This field of “DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” should help the organizations to get equipped with the knowledge and tools to more effectively design and implement listservs, web sites, databases or multi-media for advocacy campaigns, training and information management.
“DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” stands for ICTs and environmental protection. There is an interplay between poverty, ICTs and environmental protection. “Digital Development” seeks to identify innovative approaches in the area of ICTs for environmental protection and poverty reduction. In relation to the MDG framework, the poverty reduction and environmental protection study provides an ICT link between Goal 1 on elimination of extreme poverty and Goal 7 on environmental sustainability.
“DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” stands for advocating for youth and women involvement in the development process through acquisition of IT skills and entrepreneurial skills,
Youth participation in online policy debates that involves young people in politics, consideration of how new information and communication technologies (ICTs) can be used to tackle the alienation of young people from formal politics.
“DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT” also stands for the development of tools, websites, and programs that would help to achieve our mission statement. It also makes a small business in the IT sphere to keep its work financially sustainable and long-term oriented.
